It’s been quite awhile since I’ve posted anything here. Pretty much because I don’t have all that much to say, and very little of THAT is memorable.
However, now I am in the process of experimenting with all things blog so that we can determine whether or not Stewart Home School would benefit by having one. So, who knows what you might see in upcoming days on future posts.

The Capital City Community Band was a part of the Downtown Frankfort Summer Concert Series last night. I was afraid it might be another doomed concert, since it was pouring rain, thundering and lightning about an hour before the concert, and oh, did I mention it was an OUTDOOR concert? But the clouds parted and the sun came through.
The crowd was a large, happy one, and seemed to enjoyed our part of the show. I love playing with the band. It’s one of the absolute highlights of my life. Sometimes I get so happy playing, and making music, that I can’t help but send up a “Thank you, God” just for giving me the ability and the opportunity to make something so wonderful. Hard to explain but really really easy to feel.

It’s been a busy couple weeks! I’m in the middle of redesigning the web site for Stewart Home School. It will probably be a month or so before it’s ready to go, but there’s a lot of work between now and then. I really enjoy doing it, though. It’s fun to put stuff together and see it work. Not so much fun when things don’t work the way I want them to!
In conjunction with all this web work, SHS is moving wholeheartedly into the cyber age! We’re on Twitter now….we’re developing a channel on youtube, and we’re going to be a part of Wikipedia before long! Exciting stuff, and I am so happy and proud to be a part of it. I feel like it’s an area where I can really make a difference.
On that happy note, I’ll close for now
oh, p.s….a belated Happy Enitre Day, Mom!

Our dog, Buddy Lee, is one of the most wonderful dogs on the planet. Actually, us getting a dog happened quite by accident, or, more likely, a little divine intervention!
I’ve always loved dogs, but after Sparky, I had just about decided to never own another one. I thought I had come upon the quite reasonable solution of fostering dogs until they could find a good home. That way I could have a dog for a short period of time, and then let them go to their next home where I knew they’d be loved and cared for.
Then came April 4, 2008. The Kentucky River was rising, and the local humane society sent out a call for people to foster their animals for a week (They are situated on the banks of the river). So, I called Ralph and told him to go offer to foster a dog. It didn’t occur to me until he’d already gotten a dog, that at the end of this fostering experience there wouldn’t necessarily be a forever home for this dog….he would just have to go back to the shelter, where an uncertain fate awaited. So, sight unseen, as I drove home, I knew that we had just gotten ourselves a dog.
He’s a 60 pound lap dog, full of life, vim, vigor and loads of love. He turns 2 years old on July 28. We will probably have a party! He is so much a part of our lives now, I can’t imagine the house without him. It kills me when we have to go somewhere that we can’t take him, and we have to board him. I always wonder if he thinks we’ve abandoned him, whether he gets enough to eat or enough rest.
Dogs have got to be one of God’s best creations! And Buddy Lee is no exception!

Buddy Lee on vacation!

According to Weatherbug, it’s 87 degrees outside. I took myself, my iPod and my water bottle to Lakeview Park for a run. I took it nice and slow, and happily, for the first time ever, I finished a 5k run without walking any of it! I’m very pleased with this, since I’ve been sort of running for a little over a year now, and this is the furthest I’ve ever run without having to slow down and walk. I did it in about 38 minutes, which is pretty much a steady 5 mph pace. Now I just have to work up the speed a little bit. I will wait until the weather isn’t so freakin’ hot, though!

Wow. It’s still hot out there. It got too hot too fast this year. I wonder what July and August will be like.
I love learning new things to do with websites! Last week I learned something new, and hopefully today I will begin a new web skill! And then at the end of the week I will be meeting with someone who will try and show me how to take my websites and promote them. I am looking forward to that.

This blogging thing is really cool. Not so much that I am expecting half the free world to wake up in breathless anticipation, excited to read what I could possibly have to say…but just the fact that it’s doable, and this control panel for the blog is so interesting. There is so much stuff out there to learn and do, I better stop writing and get started!

It’s a good thing there are no rules stating you have to write to your blog every day!
It’s been a good week so far. I feel like I am accomplishing things both at work and at home. Where do I work, you ask? I work at Stewart Home School, a residential school for mentally challenged individuals and one of the best places to work that I can possibly think of.
As the week winds down I am going to start thinking about improving my runs for the upcoming Great Buffalo Chase 5k, to be held the morning of July 4. Funny thing, I seem to be (finally) feeling stronger, and runs at the break of day don’t bother me nearly as much.
For those who don’t know, I didn’t start running until a little over a year ago, when I was the tender age of 49. For someone who doesn’t really like to exercise, and who definitely doesn’t exercise often enough, it’s been an interesting adventure. But now, I am trying to apply what I read in a terrific book: “Younger Next Year”, that exercising every day should be non-negotiable, kind of like going ot work every day.
I’ve jumped around a lot today, so I better stop for now.

Wow. I actually enjoyed this run tonight. Usually I really dislike the end of the week, evening runs, because it’s warm, it’s humid and there’s the exhaustion factor from just coming off a week of work. But tonight felt good. I didn’t break records, didn’t even do a personal best, but I was only 37 seconds off my best time for a 5k…and that was a morning race!
It was fun being with friends, seeing the crowds in downtown Frankfort for the summer concert series, and feeling like I’ve accomplished something. What a nice way to end the week!
